Eye Health Technology

At ProEye Vision Center in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, we use the latest eye health technology and techniques to provide the highest quality care for our patients and ensure better treatment outcomes. Here are some of the advanced technologies we use:

Optical Coherence Tomography

OCT is only available in Lincoln office

Our eye doctors at ProEye Vision Center use Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to ensure optimal eye health. This non-invasive imaging technique provides cross-sectional images of the layers of your retina. OCT helps us diagnose conditions like macular holes, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. By using this technology, we can better understand the structure of your eyes and develop personalized treatment plans to fit your needs.

Digital Retinal Imaging

One of the key technologies we use at ProEye Vision Center is Digital Retinal Imaging. This advanced imaging system allows us to take high-resolution images of the back of your eye, including the retina and optic nerve. By examining these images, our optometrists can detect early signs of eye diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.

Digital Phoropter/Digital Refraction System

If you’ve ever been to the eye doctor, you’ve probably had a refraction test. This is when your eye doctor flips through a series of lenses and asks, “Which is better, one or two?” to determine your prescription for glasses or contact lenses. A Digital Refraction System, or Digital Phoropter, is a faster and more accurate way to measure your prescription. All you need to do is identify letters and numbers on a screen, and the software calculates your exact prescription.

Autorefractor

Another technology we use for the refraction test is an Autorefractor. By analyzing how light enters and exits your eye, the Autorefractor can determine if you are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism. This information is crucial in determining the correct prescription for glasses or contact lenses. One of the biggest advantages of the Autorefractor is its speed. The entire process only takes a few seconds, which makes it ideal for children and people with special needs who may have trouble sitting calmly during a longer eye exam.

Visual Field Testing

At ProEye Vision Center, we also offer Visual Field Testing to assess your peripheral vision. This test is crucial for detecting conditions like glaucoma that can cause vision loss if left untreated. Our advanced equipment measures how well you can see objects in different areas of your visual field. Visual Field Testing is painless and provides essential information about your eye health.
